Welcome. I am Dr. Teyuna T. Darris, a certified Elementary Educator, Intervention Specialist, and Communication Scholar.
My professional practice bridges the gap between high-level academic research and evidence-based K-6 classroom instruction. My primary focus is eradicating foundational illiteracy and innumeracy by designing rigorous, accessible learning frameworks that move students from dependent guessers to independent critical thinkers.
Whether I am implementing structured mathematics, leading a primary reading block, or partnering with families, I provide the targeted instructional strategy needed to accelerate student achievement.
Areas of Expertise:
01. Evidence-Based Instruction (The Educator) Bringing academic rigor to the primary grades. Grounded in the Science of Reading (LETRS) and structured mathematics (Kansas Math Project), I design and implement targeted K-6 instructional frameworks that build early cognitive stamina, foster deep comprehension, and enhance measurable learning outcomes.
02. Educational Research & Family Engagement (The Scholar) Leveraging my background as a Doctor of Philosophy in Communication, I translate advanced academic theory into accessible, age-appropriate classroom practices. I utilize my specialized research background to build strong, collaborative communication channels between the classroom and the home.
03. Cultural Curation & Literary Arts (The Curator) Preserving history through the spoken and written word. Through my literary platform, Stanza & Story, I explore the intersection of literature and regional identity. I document the cultural pulse of our communities and curate original poetry and prose, reinforcing my lifelong commitment to diverse narratives and the literary arts.
